Erin's Isle 2-5 St. Peregrines 1-7
Erin's Isle Junior Team continued their good early season form today with a hard fought victory against St Peregrines. It was a tale of 2 penalties and what might have been for the lads from Blanchardstown. In the 35th minute Isle's conceded a penalty and with Peregrine's 6 points to the good at this stage, the game looked to be drifting away. However Keeper Paul Stanley pulled off a wonderful save diving to his left to push the ball away. This gave the Isle's a second chance and 4 minutes later St Peregrine's were made to pay.
Dan Williamson who was making his debut today after a number of years away from the club coolly slotted the ball past the despairing dive of the Peregrine's Keeper. Great work from Dean Bagnall earned Isle's a penalty of their own in the 54th minute. Up stepped Captain Mick O'Donovan who expertley fired the ball home. 2 minutes later Isle's took the lead when Aaron Ryan fired over a great point after a great run. Isle's defence withstood some late pressure and the final whistle was greeted with great relief. Best players on the day were Brendan Boyle, Eoghan O'Flynn, Shane Gaffney, Mick O'Donovan & Wayne Bradley. Other players who figured prominently were Cian Doyle, Dean Bagnall, Gavin Curley, Keith Lawlor & Johnny Ryan.
Man of the Match was Isle's Keeper Paul Stanley who produced 3 superb saves during the course of the match and whose distribution was excellent. Well done to all concerned.
